If you've visited No Frills Knitting in person, you'll know that we LOVE a bit of Noro, and now we've added the DK-weight yarn, Yukiusagi, to the range.
Yukiusagi (which means "mountain hare" in Japanese) is a bit of a special one with a blend of 70% wool and 30% mohair, which makes the ball feel supremely squishable. The wool is there to give a nice warmth and bounce, and then the mohair adds a bit of a soft, slightly fluffy halo that makes for a verrrry lovely knitted fabric.
Colour wise, Yukiusagi is kinda the vibe you might expect from a Noro yarn. It's a variegated, self-striping yarn, but rather than short stripes or speckles of colour, you get these long colour changes that are like paint stripes. Each individual colour is combined with an ivory base so the shades gradually shift to create gentle stripes in your knitting project.
Noro's Yukiusagi is a cracking choice for all sorts of DK knitting projects, but we reckon it's a proper treat for a super spesh handknit jumper or cardigan. Perhaps a simple knitting pattern, like the Novice Cardigan Mohair Edition, or the Monday Sweater, where the yarn can be the star of the show.
And you get a fair bit of yarn in each 150g ball, too. 405m, in fact. So, depending on your size and knitting pattern, two balls could be enough for a slipover (like the Stockholm Slipover), while three could get you a very, very nice jumper or cardigan. Not bad at all, eh?!
