Hi, I'm Meg.

No Frills Knitting is a Bristol-based knitting supplies shop, stocking all kinds of highly useful knitting notions. All the items stocked by No Frills Knitting are tried and tested by a group of highly experienced knitters, so I’m confident you’ll approve. I’m always looking for new knitty-bits to stock, so please get in touch with any ideas.

No Frills Knitting is a one-woman-band run by me, Meg, a very proud knitting dork. I have been knitting since I was 4 years old and was initially taught by my Mum. I started to take knitting everywhere when I joined GCSEs and found I much preferred it to doing coursework during free lessons. With this extra time came more complex projects. I joined my first knitting group at 19 and found the wealth of experience absolutely amazing. I found that my style was simpler, a less is more approach, this is when No Frills was created. I’ve been making knitting patterns under No Frills Knitting since 2018, mostly hats, socks and babywear.

Tell me about the Green Room!

The Green Room is our back room in the shop. It’s a multi-purpose space designed for the hosting of workshops, knitting/crochet groups and small events. It’s called the Green Room as the walls are half green… I didn’t know what else to call it! It’s also where all the online orders are prepared, but when the Green Room is being used, it’s all tidied away to maximise space.

We are currently able to comfortably host 8 people seated around one large table, or up to 12 seated, without table. There is a small but well stocked kitchen for teas and coffees, a door to a private courtyard for fresh air, access to various plug sockets and toilet facilities. The Green Room is fully accessible to those requiring step-free access, though unfortunately the kitchen and bathroom are not. There is one step up to the kitchen and bathroom. At this time, we are yet to find a ramp fitter that will install universal access to these areas due to the shape of the building and the corners being so tight in this area.
