Lopi Plotulopi - 100g

This yarn is very unique, and there aren’t too many UK stockists of it! It’s the same beautiful wool as the Álafosslopi or Léttlopi, but is unspun, and a lot less dense, making for a wonderfully light and airy fabric. Every colourway is a lovely blend of more-than-one colour wool fibre, creating a marvellous depth within the overall colour. The Plötulopi is an excellent high-milage yarn, there’s 300m per 100g plate. Originally sold for knitters to spin themselves, these yarns could be combined with as many ends as they liked to change the thickness of the yarn.

Due to the unspun nature of this yarn, you need to be a bit careful when working with it, so it probably isn’t the best ‘throw it in your bag and knit on the train’ yarn. This being said, the finished knitting is strong and robust and just as warm as other Icelandic wools.

These yarn plates are individually wrapped in recyclable plastic for protection for the delicate fibres, but please feel free to reply to your order confirmation email if you would like me to unwrap and recycle the plastic before it gets sent out to you. If I do not hear anything, I’ll assume you’re happy with the plastic wrap.

The reommended needle size depends on how many strands are held together, but anything from 4mm upwards works well.

Handwash in lukewarm water with wool detergent, dry flat.
